Dynamic and cohesive leadership is a requirement in the management of any emergency service; the senior leadership team should encourage inclusive leadership qualities that allow for efficient and effective service provision. Dublin Fire Brigade’s foremost experience with Graham in Uppercut, was how he provided us with a clearer vision of how people centred leadership can be improved to support the alignment of our vision and values and how as a senior leadership team we can collectively work towards achieving their goals. In every organisation there will be always individual challenges and priorities for department heads, and these can sometimes cloud the overall strategic vision. Uppercut with their intuitive and objective analysis were able to help call-out these individual challenges and build a collective appreciation for each department’s priorities, shaping them into supporting the collaborative strategic direction with holistic organisational goals. We found their unique delivery style and their forensic ability to drill into core functions and associated challenges stimulated an awakening within all the members of the senior leadership team and fostered a desire to implement change enabling a more cohesive, and hence efficient service delivery.

I first met Gary in his role at the Institute of Sport and was seriously impressed by him. The impact he has had on Irish Sport is astonishing.  He has made an immense impact on Irish teams and athletes to enable them to deliver podium performances at a National, European, World and Olympic levels.
